 Water Meter Replacement Project

West Knox Utilty District will be launching an extensive Water Meter Replacement Project beginning 1st, 2024, in a continued effort to ensure the most efficient reporting of water usage data. This changeover comes as an original grouping of 18,000 AMR meters (automated meter reading) are nearing the end of their battery life expectancy. To ensure timely and reliable readings in the future, water meter replacement is vital for maintaining the accurate measurement of water as well as the trust of our customers.

Over the course of the next eight or nine months, West Knox Utility District will be installing new AMR water meters for both residential and commercial customers. WKUD has contracted with Pedal Valves to perform the meter replacement project spanning the entire utility district. All employees and vehicles of both WKUD and Pedal Valves will be identifiable with the appropriate logo and I.D. Badge. It is anticipated that each water meter replacement will require approximately 15-20 minutes. Please be aware there is an expected water service interruption during this brief period. After the changeout is complete, the service technician will then reinstate the water service and ensure the new meter is working properly before leaving the property.
